Getting Started
4.1 Introduction
This chapter describes the processes required to install, configure and verify an installation of the Rhino SLEE.
It is expected that the user has a good working knowledge of the Linux and Solaris command shells.
The following steps explain how to install and start using the Rhino SLEE 1.4.3:
1. Checking prerequisites.
2. Unpacking the distribution.
3. Installation.
• Configuring a cluster.
• Transferring cluster configuration.
• Configuring the nodes.
4. Initialising the main working memory.
5. Starting a Rhino SLEE node.
6. Starting the Rhino SLEE cluster.
7. Connecting to the Web Console and Command Console.
4.2 Installation on Linux / Solaris
4.2.1 Checking Prerequisites
Before installing Rhino SLEE, ensure that the system meets the requirements below. For more information about supported
systems configuration please see Appendix A.
• Supported hardware/OS platforms
The Rhino SLEE is supported on the following hardware:
– Intel i686
– AMD
– UltraSPARC III
