Chapter 9 describes installation details and configuration issues of the Web Console used for Open Cloud Rhino SLEE man-
agement operations.
Chapter 10 details the online and offline configuration of the Rhino SLEE logging system. The logging system is used by Rhino
SLEE and application component developers to record output.
Chapter 11 describes how to manage the alarms that may occur from time to time.
Chapter 12 is an introduction to threshold alarms.
Chapter 13 details the notification system, and how it can be configured. This is of particular use when integrating into an
existing network.
Chapter 14 explains the capacity licensing restrictions of the Open Cloud Rhino SLEE.
Chapter 15 provides information on security policies, and in particular discusses the security policy file, granting permissions
to various components.
Chapter 16 describes production and staging issues such as clustering, object pool configuration and fault tolerance within
Rhino SLEE.
Chapter 17 describes how distributed nodes can provide fault tolerance for the Rhino SLEE.
Chapter 18 details topics on the implementation of the JAIN SLEE 1.0 specification, and reviews configuration options that are
available in a Rhino SLEE deployment.
Chapter 19 describes how to use an external SQL database from within a Rhino SLEE component application and discusses
systems-level topics such as connection pooling and transaction management.
Chapter 20 discusses how Rhino SLEE is integrated with J2EE 1.3 compliant products. This chapter describes how SBBs can
invoke EJB components running in a J2EE server, and how J2EE components can send events in to a Rhino SLEE.
Chapter 21 describes installation details and configuration issues of the PostgreSQL database used for Open Cloud Rhino SLEE
non-volatile memory.
Chapters 22 and 23 provide demonstration SLEE applications using SIP and JCC. The SIP demonstration includes a registrar
and proxy service. The JCC demonstration includes a call forwarding example. These demonstrations validate the stability of
the installation and provide a tutorial for administration and programming.
Chapter 24 takes the programmer further into the development of Rhino SLEE SBBs, by customising the SIP Registrar Service
Appendix A specifies known supported hardware platforms and recommended configurations for the Open Cloud Rhino SLEE
platform and its integral components. It additionally identifies operating-system specific dependencies and system level infor-
mation.
Appendix C outlines the concepts of Resource Adaptor and Resource Adaptor Entity in the JAIN SLEE 1.1 specification, JSR
240, and defines life-cycles and configuration properties for Resource Adaptor Entities, a topic which is not described in the
JAIN SLEE 1.0 specification
Appendix D provides background material on transaction processing methods utilised by the Open Cloud Rhino SLEE. This
appendix provides an important reference for administrators and programmers.
Appendix E provides details on the format of the logs output by Rhino for the purpose of license auditing.
